Dublin’s new air route

LOW fares airline MyTravelLite launched its latest route to Ireland this week.

The airline is taking on no-frills pioneer Ryanair with a new Birmingham-Dublin route aimed at boosting traffic on the route.

MyTravelLite will operate twice-daily flights between the two cities.

The airline is headed by ex-Ryanair marketing director Tim Jeans and has been making significant headway on other low-cost routes throughout Europe.

Analysts say the decision to launch the Birmingham-Dublin service is another indication of the fierce competition on services between Britain and Ireland.

And they say the increasing battle for business on the busy routes means passengers can look forward to even lower fares in the future.

One said: “There are now so many airlines operating low-cost services between Britain and Ireland that it’s very hard to see how any one of them could increase their fares.

“It’s become very cut-throat which can only be good news for passengers. The more services there are the harder they all have to work to attract passengers.”
