Conference Centre to Inject Cash

A new national conference centre in Dublin could inject up to E50million into the economy.

Tourism Minister John O’ Donoghue has announced the Government’s approval for the construction of a dedicated centre — and predicted it would tap into a lucrative international conference market and boost tourism.

“It has the potential to provide between E25million to E50million in incremental annual business,” he said.

He said conference visitors were traditionally high spending, compared to normal tourists.

The Irish Government is inviting private sector bids for the construction of the centre. The Government would lease back the complex from the company.
