Armagh likely to face tough competition
Although Armagh captured their first ever National League title last
year it was Wexford who really caught the imagination of the football
world.
Unfortunately for the Slaneysiders they were unable to make further
progress at provincial level and succumbed to a resurgent Dublin team in
the semi-final.
While the forthcoming National League might unearth a number of other
emerging counties it is difficult to see any below the top five making
much impression in taking the honours in Divisions 1 and 2. Monaghan
shocked an improving Meath team in the Division 2 final last year but
made little impression in the championship before bowing out to Tyrone
in the All-Ireland qualifiers.
Armagh are likely to make the knock-out stages and could even face their
old rivals Tyrone at the semi-final stage. Expect a marked improvement
from defeated All-Ireland finalists Kerry who will once again be keen to
make an early impression on what they hope will be their first steps
towards the Gaelic football summit. |
