Red rose blooming

It was a positive 12 months in Lancashire Gaelic Games. The year 2006 saw the re-emergence of the John Mitchels GAA club in Liverpool and they received special mention at this year’s Annual General Meeting by chairman Sean Hopkins. The side were congratulated on winning the Junior League and Championship in the county.

Also on the receiving end of warm praise were the Oisins club of Manchester who chipped in with some scintillating performances to reach the All-Britain final narrowly losing to Fulham Irish of London.

Fullen Gaels won their first trophy after just one year in existence keeping the game of hurling alive and well in Lancashire.

Chairman Hopkins spoke of the great work being carried out at underage level in the county and thanked the underage committee for their work and Damian Kerr in particular.

Paul Brady read the secretary’s report for the last time as he announced he would be stepping down after four years to be replaced by Sean Hackett.
