Gaels are chasing the clean sweep

Tir Chonaill Gaels face three finals in eight days as they look to complete their dominance of the London Football scene.

Next Saturday the Gaels will face their old rivals St. Brendans in the Conway Cup final, then clash with Round Towers in the Reserve Football League final on Sunday.

And on Sunday week the Gaels will look to complete their third consecutive under-21 county title when they contest the county final against St. Kiernans.

The Gaels have won every single Senior competition in London so far this season and will be looking for a clean sweep when they face Brendans.

The Gaels have beaten St. Brendans in three finals so far this year and they are likely to field a strong line-up as they look to get match practice ahead of their All-Ireland Club Championship clash with Armagh champions Crossmaglen Rangers.

Gaels attacker Fergus McMahon will be hoping to add to his vast medal collection this season by collecting the Conway Cup.

McMahon has completed the remarkable double of winning the League and Championship double in both hurling and football.

Fergus faces a dilemma in January as he is due to play in All-Ireland club quarter-finals in hurling and football on the same weekend.

He will be centre-back on the Robert Emmetts team which plays the Antrim champions in the Intermediate Hurling Championship on January 19 and on January 20 is scheduled to play centre-forward for the Gaels in their All-Ireland football quarter-final clash with Crossmaglen.

The Gaels are hoping to get the date of their football quarter-final changed in order to give Fergus more recovery time but if that’s not possible then the player is prepared to play a full part in both matches.

McMahon captained London to Rackard Cup glory in 2005 and has been a fixture on the Emmetts team for many years but this season was his first to play football in London for several years.

Meath native McMahon is a former Leinster Railway Cup hurler and has also been on the Meath senior football panel.

He has hardly missed a game in either code this year, lining out for both of his clubs in every competition and he is also likely to be part of the London hurling panel for the coming season.
