| Brennan hails new GAA era

London GAA celebrated
its 110th anniversary by hosting this year’s GAA Provincial Council
of Britain’s Annual Convention.
A big attendance of almost 100 delegates gathered for a constructive meetings
that also included the end of outgoing President John Lacey’s three-year
reign and the inauguration of new President John Gormley.
Representatives of the Ulster Council (Danny Murphy) and Connacht Council
(Larry Quinn) joined GAA President elect Nicky Brennan among the chief
guests, and also in attendance were GAA Overseas Liasion Officer Gene
Duffy and Ladies Gaelic Football Association President Geraldine Giles.
Also on a busy agenda were presentations from Michael Donlon, representing
insurers Coyle Hamilton, on the subject of public liability while Croke
Park-based Games Administration Committee representative Pat Daly outlined
the GAA’s new concept of ‘Go Games’, designed to make
coaching Gaelic games more effective among underage players.
Besides John Gormley’s election to Presidency of the Council, Roger
Casement’s clubman and former treasurer of the GAA Provincial Council
of Britain-Bernie Keane is the new provincial Vice President. Keane’s
club-mate Martin Grogan succeeds him as treasurer making it a momentous
occasion for the Coventry club.
