Sister’s new appeal to find missing Cork man
By Fiona Audley
THE
SISTER of a Cork man who has been missing for over a year and could now
be in England is appealing for him to make contact with a British charity
to let his distraught family know that he is OK.
Patricia Turner, claims ‘a huge hole’ has been left in their
lives since Colin, the youngest of six siblings, left his home in Ringaskiddy,
Cork, on Valentine’s Day in 2007.
The 33-year-old, who is 5ft 10in and has a pony tail, has not been seen
since and could well have travelled to Britain where he often visited
Patricia when she lived in Yorkshire some years ago.
Worries concerning Mr Turner’s whereabouts are rapidly increasing
as the family passes the one-year anniversary of his disappearance and
Patricia, known as Trish, is keen to reassure him that they still care
for him and know he has done nothing wrong.
She told The Irish Post: “It’s been very hard this past year
but I just want to let Colin know that we care about him, we know it’s
not his fault and we miss him terribly.
“He had some conflict within the family and that day he just snapped
and walked out.
“When he left the house he was full of anger and hatred and I would
imagine some of that has probably subsided now but I really feel he needs
to talk to somebody, independent of friends and family.
“If he does not want to contact us he can call the Missing People’s
charity and talk to someone there but we just need to know that he is
OK.”
Patricia, 45, now resides at the family home in Cork, where she lived
with Colin and their mother before he disappeared.
She said: “We all miss Colin terribly and I have been trying to
find him for a year but it’s proved harder than we thought.
“We very much feel he is now in England as he loved to visit me
when I lived in York, although I moved home in 2000.”
Colin is described as a ‘loner’ who always wears a baseball
cap and dark clothes and was last seen wearing a black leather jacket
and Doc Marten-style boots.
A spokesperson for Missing People said: “There is great concern
for Colin’s welfare and we urge him to make contact with us or inform
his local police station and tell them that he is a missing person and
that he is safe and well — he does not have to say where he is.”
