Fundraiser for Patrick proves a huge success Over
£4,000 has been raised by the Irish community in Luton to help a
little boy who is suffering from leukaemia.
Last weekend the town’s Mayo Association organised a special benefit
night at the Holy Ghost Parish centre in Luton for three-year-old Patrick
Roots.
And many people joined in by donating prizes for the raffle and auction,
which took over an hour to get through and that raised over £2,000.
The Luton Parish centre was packed for the event which saw items such
as a mini oven, TVs, sound systems and much more up for grabs.
A shirt provided by the Galway Association and signed by their county
football team also raised £520.
The Mayo Association chairman Eamon Dixon said: “I thought at one
stage we were never going to get the raffle completed.
“I have to thank the many, many people and companies who donated
prizes, also the staff of the centre here for their help.”
The Roots family thanked both the Mayo and Galway Associations for their
help and support.
