FIS unveils plans to take control of top Irish business network
A series of business and community groups are being launched nationwide
this week as the Federation of Irish Societies (FIS) unveils its plans
to take over the running of a top business network.
Two social gatherings will take place on Wednesday, November 28 to mark
the revamping of the Irish Professional Network in Britain.
Deloitte in Manchester and the London Irish Embassy will hold events to
mark the Young Irish Professional Network going national.
The events are part of a drive by the FIS to facilitate networking between
Irish businesses and Irish communities.
Enterprise Ireland is handing over the management of the business network
to the FIS.
And chair of the national steering committee FIS director Eithne Rynne
claims there are plenty of benefits to being involved.
She said: “It’s a fantastic opportunity for Irish businesses
to share their expertise, learn more about what other people do and to
hear about the Irish voluntary sector.
“This project will offer Irish businesses a platform with which
to raise their profile.”
A number of networks have been set-up in Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham
and Coventry — all facilitated by the Federation of Irish Societies.
Ms Rynne said: “We hope to have an Irish business network in every
city so this is the start of that process.
“The aim would be to continue Enterprise Ireland’s work, to
build on it through new membership and also to set-up a sub-committee
to oversee future events.
“It’s very important to encourage our second and third-generations
and provide opportunities in terms of recruitment, especially for younger
people.”
