Celebrate your county!

IT’S time to show pride in your county — by joining the big parade!

Preparations are under way for this year’s London St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

And organisers want to make sure every corner of Ireland is represented.

In fact they’re looking to have marchers from all 33 counties — that’s 32 from Ireland and a London Irish contingent.

So if you want to show your roots sign-up now to take part in the big parade through the centre of the capital on March 16.

Everyone who registers to walk is being encouraged to turn up in their colours and parade behind a giant county flag — as well as making lots of noise.

It’s sure to be a magnificent spectacle as all 32 county flags are paraded through the streets in front of thousands of people.

And what better way to enjoy it than being part of the parade and showing your pride in your roots?

The St. Patrick’s Day Festival is London’s free celebration of the Irish contribution to life in the city and enjoyed by people of all ages and backgrounds.

The parade is the highlight of the day with the colourful spectacle of marching bands, floats, costume characters, stilt-walkers and street theatre winding its way through central London.

This year’s parade begins at Park Lane at noon and moves off along Piccadilly, Lower Regent Street, Pall Mall East, Trafalgar Square and Whitehall before dispersing on Whitehall Place.

The party will continue in Trafalgar Square with a stage showcasing the best of contemporary and traditional Irish music as well as a Tourism Ireland Village where you can plan your next trip across the Irish Sea.

Nearby Leicester Square will also showcase the best of Irish arts and culture and includes a Céilí Mor where the experienced and inexperienced can join forces to stomp up a storm to rival any Riverdance.

There’ll also be Celtic Kids Zone including roving entertainers, workshops and Irish language ambassadors who’ll provide you with some Irish phrases!

Other highlights of the day include one of the biggest specialty Irish food markets outside Ireland — bursting with artisan Irish fare including smoked salmon, cheeses, seaweed sausages and soda breads.

So now’s your time to sign-up to enjoy the biggest yearly Irish celebration in London.

Which county will muster the most participants for this year’s parade?

Will it be Cork, Cavan, Dublin or elsewhere?

Register to walk behind your county and make your representation the largest contingent in the parade!
