IF YOU are from the West Coast of Ireland you will no doubt be delighted
to hear that you can now fly direct from Britain to Sligo.
Aer Arann has teamed up with Manchester Airport to offer the new flight
service.
The important deal could now pave the way for new routes to other airports
in Britain.
Ray MacSharry chairman of Failte Ireland North West said: “Sligo
Airport has had a key role to play in the strategic development of tourism
in Sligo and the North West.
“This new route will assist the regional spread of tourism throughout
the country by allowing easier and better access to the Sligo region.”
The new Manchester to Sligo route will start on May 14.
The service will operate four days per week on Monday, Thursday, Friday
and Sunday departing Sligo at 8.50am on Monday and Friday, 3.35pm on Thursday
and 11.05am on Sunday.
The return flight will depart Manchester at 10.45am on Monday and Friday,
5.30pm on Thursday and 1pm on Sunday with a flight time of one hour and
25 minutes. Fares on the route will start from £27 one-way including

Head of Sales and Marketing for Aer Arann Colin Lewis said: “We are
delighted to announce our first service from Sligo to Britain.
“Manchester is the largest city in the North-West of England synonymous
with football. It is also one of Britain’s best cities for arts, shopping
and entertainment and we believe it will prove to be a very popular destination
for passengers from the North-West region.
“And now incoming tourists from Britain and the Irish in Britain
who have relatives in the North West will find their travelling time cut
by half.”
