I have never commented on the terrible abduction of little Madeleine McCann up to now.

I was praying that she would be found safe and I was reluctant to even think about the alternative.

However, the recent spate of criticism of Madeleine’s parents Kate and Gerry McCann makes my blood boil.

I cannot even begin to imagine what this traumatised but dignified couple must be going through and being forced to defend themselves against vicious speculation and groundless accusations is simply too much.

Shame on those who perpetrate and perpetuate such cruelty.
