| Brave Louise will be the face of
meningitis campaign THE PLIGHT of brave youngster Louise Greer
is the stuff of every parent’s nightmares.
Struck down with flu-like symptoms she then went into a fit and was
rushed to hospital only to be diagnosed with meningitis.
Doctors feared the worst telling her mother her daughter was unlikely to last
through the night.
But against all the odds the Irish schoolgirl pulled through. And despite
losing both her legs and an arm Louise is now a bright happy 10-year-old
enjoying her favourite hobbies of horse-riding and swimming.
So it’s appropriate she has been chosen as the face of a campaign
to fund research into finding a vaccine to end the curse of meningitis.
Louise was one of the lucky ones but other children in both Britain
and Ireland have been struck down by the disease and never recovered.
Hopefully the Search For A Vaccine campaign can raise the £7million
it needs to meet its goal.
If it does then perhaps we can be hopeful no more children will have
to suffer the way Louise did.
