The frontman of Irish outfit U2 claims he’s the Imelda Marcos of sunglasses.
The rocker admits to owning vast numbers of sunglasses — in the same way
Marcos, former First Lady of the Philippines famously owned 3,000 pairs
of shoes when her husband Ferdinand Marcos was President.

But it’s not so much an indulgence for the Dublin musician, who’s rarely
seen without his shades. Because Bono claims he has to wear sunglasses in
public because he has very sensitive eyes.
The 45-year-old says that if somebody takes his photograph, he’s left
seeing the flash for the remainder of the day.
So for someone who gets snapped as much as Bono it’s probably just as
well he chooses to don the shades, no matter what the occasion.
Indeed it’s pretty likely he was wearing them during his meeting with
America’s President George Bush last week. The rock-star cum humanitarian
went to the US to continue his chat with Bush following their discussions
at the G8 Summit in Scotland last summer.
White House spokesman Scott McClellan said of meeting: “Both share a
deep commitment to combating AIDS, preventing malaria, and expanding trade
to lift people out of poverty, particularly in developing countries.”
