| Live 8 DVD Set for Record Sales
By Grainne McLoughlin
Bob Geldof and his family were out in force last week for the launch
of the momentous Live 8 concerts on DVD.
The former Boomtown Rats star went along with his four daughters to see
the screening which showed every artist who appeared at London’s Hyde Park
and Philadelphia’s Museum of Art.
Highlights included Pink Floyd reuniting and performances from Sir Paul
McCartney Madonna, U2 and Robbie Williams.

But Geldof was adamant that it shouldn’t be forgotten why they were there
— to apply pressure on the leaders of the world’s richest nations to tackle
the issue of poverty.
The concerts resulted in an agreement to double aid to poor countries
by 2010 and cancel the debts of 18 countries.
Geldof hopes the DVD — which will see a royalty from sales go to the
Band Aid Trust — will become the biggest-selling of all time.
He said: “It deserves to be. More importantly perhaps it should be for
it will help us to achieve our goal of changing the lives of the extreme
poor for the better and making our generation the one that helped end the
disgrace of poverty.”
The public will be able to purchase the DVD from November 7.
