| Farrell’s Just a Big Fake By
Grainne McLoughlin
It’s not very often that Hollywood heartthrob Colin Farrell isn’t in
the papers. And this week has proved no different.
Not only is he getting slack for being too much of a bad boy for the
James Bond role, he’s also being hailed as something of a fake after schoolmates
claimed he used to be a posh “mummy’s boy”.
The claims, which appear in Jane Kelly’s unauthorised biography Colin
Farrell: Living Dangerously, include reports of his old friends being particularly
amused by his strong Irish accent, which he never used to have.
A former friend said: “He pretends he’s from a tough part of Dublin but
he’s not.”

While another added: “Colin sounds quite broad Dublin these days but
everyone knows he’s posher than he makes out.”
But it’s this self-crafted bad boy image which the Hollywood Reporter
claims led to his being turned down by Bond producers.
In the same report, it was claimed former 007 agent Pierce Brosnan wanted
too much money to take up the role again.
But Farrell’s not out in the cold in other circles as the Dubliner is
said to be in talks with director Terrence Malick about a new film entitled
Tree Of Life.
The film's plot has not been revealed but pre-production is set to begin
in January with some parts being shot in India.
