| Brosnan to star in Dylan Thomas biopic
IRISH movie production company Merlin Films is set to team up with actor
Pierce Brosnan to make a $9million film about the life of Welsh poet Dylan
Thomas.
Merlin chief executive Kieran Corrigan said filming was due to begin before
the end of March and he expected to shoot a significant portion of the
film in Ireland.
The film, called Caitlin, is a co-production with Welsh company Salem
Film Productions and tells the story of the traumatic relationship between
Thomas and his wife.
Brosnan’s own production company Dreamtime is also backing the project.
Mr Corrigan said he was anxious to begin shooting before April 1 in order
to avail of tax breaks in Ireland and Britain under current co-production
structures.
After that date films are no longer entitled to receive tax breaks in
both countries under new guidelines outlined by the British Government
earlier this month.
Merlin is also in talks with German production company Epsilon about
a 40million project starring American actor Kevin Bacon.
Further details of the project are expected to be released some time in
the new year. |
