| Black is Back
Cast your mind back to 1999. Bill Clinton was US President. The Euro
had just been launched. Treble-winning Manchester United were the team to
beat. And the greatest threat to the world was the Y2K bug rather than Weapons
of Mass Destruction. It has, then, been some time since Mary Black released
a new album.
“It is a little overdue, I think,” agrees Mary. At least it’s certainly
not a Kate Bush-like decade-and-a-bit: “Ah, no, I haven’t been away that
long!” she laughs — but it has been a while. Not, as she’s quick to point
out, that she’s been putting her feet up.
