Westlife sister wins role in West End hit

Dubliner Susan McFadden is definitely the one that we want.

This week it was announced that the Irish singer will be playing Sandy in the hit musical Grease.

Susan — who is the sister of Westlife singer Brian McFadden was crowned the winner last Saturday night on the ITV talent show Grease Is The Word.

The actress will star alongside Danny Baynes, who will play Danny in upcoming revival of Grease when it opens in August at the West End’s Piccadilly Theatre.

Twenty-four-year-old Susan looked stunned after her victory and told host Zoe Ball: “The first thing I’m going to do is drink a big bottle of champagne. I have worked so hard to get here.”

Baynes and McFadden were originally paired together in the programme and reunited again on Saturday.

After triumphing over former pop star Anthony Kavanagh and Michelle Antrobus, Danny and Susan closed the show with a rendition of the Grease finale song We Go Together.

The pair now have six weeks of rehearsals before the show begins previews on July 25.

A total of £6million-worth of tickets have already been sold for the show since the box office opened at the end of March.

And bookings are currently being taken until February 2008.

The official opening is on August 8.

Grease producer and programme judge David Ian told the winners: “Danny and Sandy the characters have been very good for me and I would ask please look after the roles, work hard and take care of them.”
