It hardly comes as a shock that Ireland’s biggest rock band U2 are minted.

But even they must be impressed at having topped Billboard magazine’s inaugural Money Makers chart in the US with an income of $255,022,633.35.

Billboard reports that the chart compiles album and digital sales along with box office receipts during 2005.

According to Billboard, the Irish band fronted by Bono ranked 27th in album sales, ninth in digital sales and number one at the box office in front of Rolling Stones and Kenny Chesney who took the second and third spots with $152,356,754.50 and $87,731,463.50 respectively.
