| U2 in award failure shock
After U2 sweeping the board at the Grammys last week, you’d be
forgiven for thinking they might have done the same closer to home. But
last week’s Brit Awards proved it wasn’t to be.
Instead the Kaiser Chiefs were the big winners on the night scooping three
of the British gongs with Green Day beating U2 in the International stakes.
Fellow Irish pop group Westlife also failed to feature. Instead CD:UK
viewers, readers of The Sun’s Bizarre column and customers of O2
and Motorola voted for James Blunt as Best Pop Act.
Where at the Grammys, experience triumphed over youth, the Brit Awards
told a very different story as a new generation of bands swept the boards
including Artic Monkeys, Jack Johnson, KT Tunstall and Lemar.
But Paul Weller was there to pick up his Outstanding Contribution award.
