Traditional music troupe to tour britain

A father and daughter double act is just one of the highlights on this year’s Echoes of Érin tour — the 2008 Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann Concert Tour Of Britain which will visit seven venues from February 23 to March 1.

The annual tour features the best of traditional talent drawn from Ireland, Britain and North America.

This year’s group has already toured Ireland and thrilled audiences with their exciting traditional show at venues in all four provinces.

Each year the tour assembles a fine mix of established artistes together with up-and-coming young stars.

These are blended into a fast-moving and colourful show which appeals to both the connoisseurs and peripheral fans of Irish traditional entertainment.

This year’s tour also features a unique appearance from a Co. Clare father and daughter — Joe and Eimear Arkins.

Both are fine singers and Eimear is also a highly-accomplished traditional musician.

The 2008 Tour Of Britain, which will play venues in Cardiff, London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Bradford, Glasgow and Manchester, is sponsored by Tourism Ireland and Enjoy Travel.
