Traditional harpist plays in Lichfield

Lichfield Arts folk season continues at the Lichfield Guildhall on February 8 with a concert from award-winning Irish harpist Marie Ni Chathasaigh and guitarist Chris Newman.

They have played together all over the world. Marie Ni Chathasaigh won the Traditional Musician-of-the-Year award in 2001 while Chris Newman’s style as a guitarist and an accompanist has won him rave reviews from fellow musicians and traditional fans.

They promise a night to remember with their addictive and stylish cocktail of powerhouse Irish dance-music, gorgeous airs, evocative old songs and striking new compositions — with shots of hot jazz and bluegrass thrown in on a night not to be missed.

Lichfield Arts Director Brian Pretty said: “Our Irish gigs are always popular. Both Marie and Chris are well known and regarded within their fields and this will be a very special concert within the four walls of the Guildhall.”

The Lichfield Guildhall concert starts at 8.30pm. Tickets cost £12, £11 for concessions, £10 for members and £6 for students. For further information and to book tickets call the Box Office on 01543 262223.
