Terry’s a real smoothie with women at breakfast time

IRISH broadcast veteran Terry Wogan has been awarded second place in the battle of presenters to be crowned Britain’s favourite breakfast smoothie by British women.

The Limerick-man was only beaten by silver-tongued, silver-haired Philip Schofield who topped the poll.

The survey was commissioned by Cancer Research UK in support of Britain’s Biggest Breakfast a fundraising campaign taking place throughout March to raise awareness of the links between diet and cancer and to raise vital funds for research into the disease.

In the survey of 1,000 women nearly a quarter 24 per cent put Philip in first place as the most charming and charismatic of all the male breakfast presenters with thousands of women watching him every day on This Morning.

Third position went to Ben Shepherd for his role on GMTV and Radio 1’s outspoken second-generation Irishman Chris Moyles came in fourth.

Heart FM’s Jamie Theakston was the favourite London radio station breakfast presenter beating Capital FM’s Johnny Vaughan who received only two per cent of the vote and came in last.

Each year Britain’s Biggest Breakfast aims to raise awareness of how eating a healthy breakfast as part of a balanced diet including plenty of fruit and vegetables can help reduce your risk of cancer.

Experts believe that about a quarter of all cancer deaths are caused by unhealthy diets and obesity.

The campaign aims to raise £200,000 for research into cancer by asking people to hold fundraising breakfast parties.
