Secret sounds

‘Niamh de Búrca is one of Irish music’s best-kept secrets. She possesses a voice that stays with the listener.’ So says Altan’s Mairéad Ni Mhaonaigh about this debut album from Dubliner Niamh de Búrca.

And now the secret is out now Maire Breatnach’s masterful production of the album guarantees that Niamh’s golden voice will soon become one of Ireland’s best-loved sounds.

Samuel Lover’s The Fairy Boy and Andy Stewart’s If I Never Spend A Morning Without You share space with Neansai Mhíle Grá and Michael Davitt’s poignant Faoilean in a setting by Tríona Ni Dhomhnaill.

Niamh’s singing has been long valued by her musician friends and now that treasure is to be shared with all Irish music lovers.

Among the many highly regarded musicians who join with Niamh on her debut album are Séamus Brett, Mark Kelly (Altan), Bill Shanley (Mary Black Band), Mick O'Brien, Mick Giblin, James Blennerhasset (Mary Black, Frances Black), Danny Byrt, Jim O’Leary (Ragus), Fergal Ó’ Murchú (Ragus) and the widely acclaimed musician and composer Maire Breatnach, who also produces the album.

Niamh de Búrca has sung to enthusiastic audiences at folk festivals in Estonia, has toured extensively in Northern Spain and performed with the acclaimed Ragus show in Town Hall Theatre, Galway.

This is an album waiting to be discovered and then cherished.
