Second Ar Ais Aris traditional arts festival

THE SECOND Ar Ais Arís traditional arts festival kicks-off in Buncrana in Co. Donegal on March 29 for a weekend of top-class music, song and dance.

Ciarán Tourish and Dermot Byrne of Altan fame will host artists of the calibre of Paul Brady, Frankie Gavin and Steve Cooney in The Best Of Budgen concert while The Doherty’s Welcome features

Kevin Doherty (from Four Men And A Dog) and Liz Doherty with special guests Jerry Holland, Howie MacDonald and Mac

Morin from Cape Breton in Nova Scotia, Canada along with Henry McCullough, James

Delaney and Gerry ‘Banjo’ O’Connor.

Local fiddler and long-time resident of Connecticut PV O’Donnell will be honoured in a special tribute concert featuring Tommy Peoples and Brian McGrath.

The St. Roch’s Céilí Band from Glasgow will provide the music for a Céilí Mór.

Other events include a concert, session trail and pub gigs, poetry with Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill, workshops, free recitals, singers circle and open mic, storytelling, schools programme and children’s art exhibition.
