O’Toole is canvassing for more success
Peter
O’Toole is in final negotiations to star in a new film called The
Christmas Cottage which is based on a painting by American artist Thomas
Kinkade.
The film will be part biographical and will look at the events that influenced
Kinkade to become an artist.
O’Toole is in final negotiations to play painter Glen Weissler who
is based on one of Kinkade’s mentors.
The film is due to go into production this month in Vancouver, Canada.
Meanwhile O’Toole is to play Pope Paul III in the second series
of The Tudors.
O’Toole, who has received eight Oscar nominations over his career,
will join Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, John Kavanagh, Nick Dunning and Maria
Doyle Kennedy for seven episodes of the series which begins shooting this
week at Ardmore Studios.
Fellow actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers has defended the quantity of sex scenes
in the hit TV show claiming there was more sex in Henry VIII’s era
than nowadays.
The Cork-born star, who plays the king famous for his six wives, claims
the amount of action between the sheets is historically accurate.
“People had an awful lot of sex at that time,” says Rhys Meyers.
“Sex was what you did when the sun went down. They were more sexually
gregarious in the 15th century.”
