New venue for Bolton session

The Comhaltas music session on Sunday, February 17 organised by the Bolton branch of CCE will be held at the Sweet Green Tavern, Trinity Street, Bolton (between Bolton railway station and Sainsbury’s).

The sessions were formerly at the Bolton Irish Centre.

The Bolton branch PRO John McManus said: “We had to change the venue because the amplified sound from a recently-introduced Country and Western evening in another room interferes with the acoustic traditional music.”

This session had developed into one of the best sessions in the region regularly attracting 20 to 25 musicians.

The lack of support from the Irish Centre management is disappointing and they appear more interested in C/W and providing facilities for darts teams than promoting and supporting our own culture.

The session continues on the third Sunday of each month at 8.30pm.
