NME Ireland dropped after four months
NME Ireland, the Irish edition of the music weekly, published its final
edition last week.
It was only launched in October last year amid much hype and fanfare.
But less than four months later the magazine’s publishers IPC have
pulled the plug.
NME Ireland editor Steve Cummins said he was disappointed with the decision.
The magazine contained a section with eight pages of local news, reviews,
interviews and listings contained within the original edition of the magazine.
It was believed an Irish edition was a necessary and worthwhile venture
reflecting well on a thriving music scene in Ireland where young bands
such as The Blizzards, the Immediate and Director have been received with
critical acclaim.
