Musical youth exchange CEOLTÓIRÍ na
Breataine had the privilege to host the very first international youth
exchange within Comhaltas worldwide.
A group of 19 youngsters from Offaly and 25 from Ennis travelled to Scotland
to meet with Ceoltóirí na Nog from Britain.
A total of 54 musicians from the three groups held a fantastic musical
weekend.
The three groups first met for a welcome meal and a session of traditional
music, song and dance.
The next afternoon they were treated to a masterclass hosted by Simon
Thoumire and Claire McLaughlan followed by a concert in Rutherglen Town
Hall.
The audience were treated to a show from the three groups in what was
a fantastic evening.
Other events included a bonding session taking in the sights of Glasgow,
a meal with a traditional music session and a tour of the Royal Scottish
Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow. |
