Morrissey not ready to forgive and forget

Second-generation Irish singer Morrissey is reportedly set to snub the induction ceremony of The Smiths into the US Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall Of Fame.

Morrissey, 47, and his former bandmates Johnny Marr, Andy Rourke and Mike Joyce have been invited to the event in New York next year.

But friends of the singer say Morrissey couldn’t bring himself to share the stage with the group, following their feuding and break-up in the late 1980s.

Morrissey and drummer Joyce also became embroiled in a bitter legal battle over royalties in 1996 which Joyce went on to win.

Contactmusic.com quotes a friend as saying: “Morrissey has never forgiven Joyce and if organisers think he’s going to bury the hatchet by joining him to accept this award, they’ve got another thing coming.

“The only way he could be persuaded to turn up would be if Joyce decides not to attend.”
