March on in Leeds

SUNDAY, March 4 sees a family-friendly day at the Carriageworks Theatre on Millennium Square in the heart of Leeds.

The event will include music and dance workshops, Irish food, Celtic arts and crafts and a performance from the Co. Mayo traditional band Ceide.

The day will have workshops on fiddle, flute, bodhrán, button accordion and bouzouki.

Workshop places are free but are strictly limited and can booked on the day.

The workshops are aimed at intermediate to advanced level but are of interest to all improvers wishing to further their technique, understanding and appreciation of Irish traditional music.

For fans of the visual arts this month in Leeds features a number of displays including the National Museum of Ireland’s Streets of London photographic depiction of the Irish in Britain in the latter half of the 20th century, the mightily-impressive Róisín Bán exhibition about the Irish in Leeds, photographic displays from local groups and individuals and much more.

The St. Patrick’s parade now in it’s eighth year takes place on March 11 in Leeds City Centre.

There is also a full programme of live music at venues across Leeds.
