Linane’s Irish night

THE MUSICAL Traditions Club is hosting a London Irish night with the Linane family on Friday, February 10. It will see the Linanes — Sinead (fiddle), Maureen (accordion) and father Michael (fiddle) along with Reg Hall (piano) — take to the stage and also mark the debut of young Liverpool-Irish singer Helen Roche.

The London-born Linane family have strong links to Co. Leitrim and are All-Ireland Fleadh winners.

They specialise in Leitrim†and Galway tunes, singing in sean-nÛs style.

Reg Hall is an expert on Irish traditional music in London and plays piano regularly at The Auld Triangle in Finsbury Park.

Helen Roche grew up in England and mid-Wales and inherited her singing from her father and grandfather.

She spent some years performing as a singer-songwriter and also pursued an interest in the Bosnian, Sephardic and Yiddish song traditions before returning to her roots in the Irish tradition.

The Musical Traditions Club is held The King & Queen, London W1P 7LE. Nearest Tube Goodge Street. For further information or for membership ring 0208 340 0530 to leave name and address, or contact by e-mail: petawebken@aol.com
