It’d be a sin to miss James at Manchester’s Irish Festival

Preparations for this year’s Manchester Irish Festival are well under way with the talented group James Cannon and The Sinners already confirmed for the celebrations.

Cannon, son of Dubliners’ legend Sean Cannon, will be performing with Irish folk band The Sinners as part of Tradfest on Sunday, March 9 at the M19 bar in Levenshulme.

The 10-day Tradfest runs from Friday, March 7 until Monday, March 17 and will feature over 100 Irish musicians, singers and dancers.

The gig has been organised as a special post-Irish Parade party and organiser Lawrence Hennigan is thrilled at securing the talented musicians for the night.

He said: “We are really excited about putting James on at the opening weekend.

“I am a big fan of The Dubliners and it is great to see the traditional Irish musical heritage being passed on.

“The line up for the 10-day festival is packed with talent and the majority of the events are free or for a nominal charge to make it more accessible to the general public.”

James Cannon has toured extensively with The Dubliners over the past decade and brings a wealth of experience to The Sinners as the lead vocalist of the group.

The Barnsley-based band play a mix of traditional Irish ballads with fiddle, banjo and mandolin as well as contemporary music from musicians such as the Pogues and Johnny Cash
