Irish open London Fashion Week

London Fashion Week is here again with a glimpse of what we will or will not be wearing next spring and summer.

Irish designer Paul Costello will open the show on Saturday, September 15 with his classic collection and fresh mix of tailoring, knitwear and dresses.

The Dublin-born designer is still one of the most established names in British fashion with a loyal following for his wearable designs in linens, tweeds and printed silks.

This year he has been expanding his British-based shops and European concessions.

His main line collection focuses on occasion dressing for day and evening using fine Italian fabrics.

Another favourite on the catwalks is Dublin-based John Rocha who will showcase his new collection on Monday, September 17.

With a career spanning over 20 years the Hong Kong-born designer’s distinctive style makes him one of the most sought-after fashionistas of his time.

His cutting skills are legendary and his fascination for traditional arts and new fabric techniques make for a unique collection.

The London event follows in the footsteps of the recent Dublin Fashion Week and two other designers to make waves there were Aideen Bodkin and Deborah Veale.

Since being taken up by Enterprise Ireland as part of a small group of designers, they have been invaluable in promoting Irish fashion design abroad.

The duo showed their autumn/winter 2007 collections while presenting their spring/summer 2008 collections.

Watch out for this perfect pairing coming to shops near you.

n London Fashion Week runs from September 15-20.
