Ireland’s finest unite at National Concert Hall

IRELAND’S finest musical talents celebrated 25 years of music at the National Concert Hall — captured in an exceptional DVD and double CD.

Grammy-award winning musicians, international music stars and some of Ireland’s most talented performers recorded the live event to celebrate the hall’s silver jubilee.

Aptly titled Ireland’s Finest, the star-studded line-up includes Paddy Maloney and The Chieftains, the Irish Broadway singing-sensation Colm Wilkinson, acclaimed singer-songwriters Paul Brady, Declan O’Rourke and Brian Kennedy along with Ireland’s flautist supreme Sir James Galway.

Speaking at the launch of the DVD Sharon Shannon (pictured) said: “Ireland’s Finest is a serious line-up of musicians who all performed their own audience hits.

“The buzz and atmosphere that this show created on the night was enthralling.

“This DVD is a great representation of Irish musical talent and a great mix of music from the very popular to traditional and classical.”

Other artists on Ireland’s Finest include the multi-talented Galician piper Carlos Núñez and Eurovision winner Eimear Quinn singing The Voice.

Although this CD/DVD might not be for the purist it contains a host of new arrangements and all artists were accompanied by the orchestra of the National Concert Hall which was conducted by David Brophy.

It would be well-received after Christmas dinner and go well with the brandy.

Available from the box office of the National Concert Hall on 00353 1 417 0000 or www.nch.ie and from good record outlets.
