Help at hand for Irish property sellers abroad

By Trevor O’sullivan

Having trouble selling your house abroad? Has your dream home turned into a property nightmare?

Well a new Channel 4 property show could be about to help. Selling Houses Abroad is looking for Irish people who own homes abroad and who need their property problems solved.

The show’s series editor Sue Dulay is targeting Irish people due to our continued passion for investing in property abroad.

She said: “The Irish are big on investing in property abroad. They are part of the property phenomena that is sweeping us at the moment.

“For a lot of people living in the sun is the ultimate goal in life. We have found that a lot of people who come to view the properties in previous series have been Irish.”

So if you are currently in a property minefield and your problems seem interminable then Sue and the Channel 4 team may be able to help.

She said: “We are looking for Irish people who are trying to sell their property abroad and have had it on the market for a very long period of time.

“So if you are very frustrated and cannot see why it is not selling we will come in and our presenter will give his advice as to what would help to make it more sellable.”

Investing in property abroad can be extremely difficult but Sue has some invaluable advice.

“People go abroad with the notion of life being easier but there is such an array of difficult problems that people can experience.

“If people are prepared they will be armed with the knowledge that certain problems exist and they can look for them when they go and view property.

“Also I think people put their trust in the estate agent who is showing them around.

“Actually it’s always better to seek independent advice the moment you decide on a property. The advice you get from them will always be better.”
