Encore as performers Peter and Joe return

A not to be missed evening of music, song, and humour with Peter Donnelly and Joe Giltrap is set to take place on Friday, March 10 at St. Joseph’s Parish Centre, Highgate Hill, London.

Joe Giltrap was born and raised in Leixlip, a village by the banks of the river Liffey in Co. Kildare.

His love of folk music grew from the great Irish folk and ballad revival of the 1960s. Musician and songwriter Joe plays guitar, five-string banjo, mandolin, bodhran and harmonica.

In 2004, Joe was the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award for his services to the Irish music industry.

Peter Donnelly, also known as The Racker, in the past seven years has participated in 150 radio broadcasts and performed at numerous venues throughout England Ireland, and the USA.

The writer Fintan O’Toole described Donnelly’s work as: “Terrific, very clever, very funny”, while a woman of many words, author Maeve Binchy, used just one word to describe him – “Great!”

The former teacher, journalist, and literary critic – just to mention a few of his occupations over the years – has revived a family tradition. His ancestors were “reacairi” (bards) to the great Irish chiefs the O’Neill’s.

Dividing his time between Co. Wicklow and London Peter would seem to have the best of both worlds.

A concert with Joe Giltrap back in December at Lauderdale House worked so well that it seemed obvious to perform another concert together.

Tickets for the concert cost £5 and the doors open from 8.30pm.
