Dubliner’s documentary gets online premiere
An
Irish man’s documentary that has garnered impressive plaudits from
hardened movie critics across the globe is about to be broadcast free
for the first time online.
Home, which tells the story of Dublin actor Alan Cooke on a journey of
discovery through New York, can now be viewed in full-screen broadcast
quality at www.homethemovie.com.
Cooke plays the role of an Irish emigrant adapting to life in the Big
Apple.
He said: “For me the film expresses what I experienced from the
moment I arrived here up until the point when I started thinking about
the film.
“I was experiencing a lot of personal changes and I have always
paused to observe how life works. I started writing pieces about here
— not for any particular reason — almost like a diary.”
Home also features some of the most famous New Yorkers discussing their
own private New York — including Irish actor Liam Neeson.
Since its first public screening at the Galway Film Fleadh last year Home
has been screened at the San Francisco Irish Film Festival and to a sold
out theatre at the Palm Beach Film festival.
More recently the film won the award for Best Documentary at the Magners
Irish Film Festival in Boston. |
