Hollywood heartthrob Pierce Brosnan has refused to star in the movie version of his 1980s TV show Remington Steele — a role which launched him on the international movie scene.

The Irishman said it would be like going backwards in his career but he’s ruled it out mainly because he’s too old to play the role. But he’s still in talks with his film company Irish Dreamtime about bringing the movie to the silver screen.

“I’m too old to play him right now”, he says.

“I don’t want to go back there. I’ve been there and that’s where I started.”
