Bond villain Lee claims Brosnan was the best

By Grainne McLoughlin

As criticism for the casting of Daniel Craig as the new 007 agent James Bond continues to grow, Christopher Lee — who played Bond villain Scaramanga in The Man with the Golden Gun — has lauded Irishman Pierce Brosnan as the best Bond to date.

Despite defending the appointment of Craig as Brosnan’s successor as the British spy agent the actor said: “In my opinion — and I think I know as much, if not more about Bond than anyone particularly about the characters on whom Ian Fleming told me Bond was based — Pierce Brosnan was by far the best and closest to the character.”
