A short story or just caught short
Julian Gough, the Galway writer who recently won Britain’s National
Short Story Prize, appeared on The Late Late Show last week. He expounded
on his story The Orphan And The Mob and I have to say it sounds a very
thoughtful piece. It concerns an orphan who inadvertently urinates on
a Cabinet Minister at the re-opening of a national monument, Dev’s
Hole. According to Mr Gough the late leader once hid from the British
in that very hole.
