Actor Colm Meaney to be honoured by peers Hollywood
star Colm Meaney is set to be honoured by a string of his A-list Irish
stars for his work in the movies.
The 55-year-old actor, who now lives in Spain, will be guest of honour
at the star-studded bash hosted by the US-Ireland Alliance in Los Angeles
later this month.
The Dublin father, who is best known for his role as Miles O’Brien
on the Star Trek and The Commitments, was chosen by the alliance for the
special gong for his contribution to film at their third annual pre-Academy
awards party.
He has also starred in a series of Hollywood blockbusters such as Intermission,
Con Air, Far And Away and Into The West.
CLANNAD TOUR
Almost 35 years since their first album was released, Irish group Clannad
is to tour Britain, their first tour here in 10 years.
The original band members have reunited and are set to start an 11-date
tour, which kicks off at the Sage, Gateshead on Sunday, March 2.
Ten years have passed since the group’s last studio album was released:
The Grammy award-winning Landmarks album, which contributed to their global
sales of over 10million albums. As well as being presented with the lifetime
achievement award at last year’s Meteor Ireland Music Awards, Clannad
have previously won Ivor Novello and BAFTA awards.
